HAPPY HOLIDAYS and GOD JUL as they say in Norwegian… Norway you know… the arctic country where Santa is from!
Now this snow and ski loving dude in the photograph is the Norwegian “Nisse”; a tiny gnome taking care of the farm and making sure nothing happens to the farmer’s family and animals. Do they really exist? Oh, yeah – all though no-one has ever seen them for real. You just know he is there. The Nisse lives in the barn, is old, old and comes out at night when humans are asleep. Sometimes you can see his footprints in the snow. Norwegians gets all warm and fuzzy inside when they think of the Nisse. He puts us in the real Christmas spirit. So Merry Christmas, God Jul, Happy Holidays to all my friends all over the world!

Morning moments in snowy Oslo. Photographs ©Marianne Rafter
As northern Europe is snowed in and everyone over there in the “old” country are freezing their butts off… I got reminded of how much I miss the snowy winter wonderland of Norway. This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Time Out NY – The Feed first look: Mexicue. Photographs by Marianne Rafter
The best part about shooting for Time Out – besides from falling in love with New York all over again – is that I get to eat the food I photograph!
